What we do
Crystal Palace Transition Town is all about getting stuck in - it's the power of doing stuff that motivates us. Here we introduce our groups and the growing number of successful projects we run. There are over 1,000 people involved in one way or another; find out more, see what takes your fancy, then get involved!
p.s. Keep an eye on our social media for new projects as they often spring up quickly :)

In this section...
Our Community Gardens
Our community gardens are scattered around Crystal Palace and give people the chance to grow local food, there are so many now, we've given them their own section! |
The Crystal Palace Food Market
Our enormously successful Crystal Palace Food Market is the jewel in our crown. With organic and local suppliers, the market stocks meat, fish, dairy, bread, cakes, fruit and veg, plus hot food. |
More Food and Growing projects
Our food and growing projects are dedicated to producing more of our of food locally and giving people opportunities to buy local and organic food in Crystal Palace. |
Local and Fair Trade
The Local and Fair Group helps people change how they shop and eat to support resilience both locally and globally. We have produced a local shopping guide and run events during Fairtrade Fortnight. |
The Transport Group
The Transport Group supports sustainable transport and people-friendly streets. We help people make transport choices which are better for our health, communities and planet. |
Waste and Recycling
The Waste Group encourages creative waste reduction, recycling and upcycling. We run days to clear litter hotspots in and around Crystal Palace in our Palace Pick Ups and find creative ways to upcycle things people normally throw away. |
Energy
The Energy Group aims to reduce the amount of energy we use and encourages the generation and use of renewable energy. We are setting up Crystal Palace's first community-run solar panel project: Palace Power. |
More to explore
All our projects are working towards the transition to an oil-free economy and are inspired by the Transition Town Movement. Read about the Transition Town Movement |
