Activities for Kids at Crystal Palace Food Market
Our weekly Food Market has become a real community hub - for kids as well as adults. From pottery to storytelling, hat making to mindfulness - or even running their own stall - there's loads for them to get involved with.
The Market is a wonderful community space, particularly for children. There are no cars and they're totally safe, free to run around in a friendly, protective atmosphere.
There are tons of activities for them to get involved in, most of them free or low-cost - games, storytelling, drama, singing, craft activities, pottery, hat making, face painting, balloon art, even mindfulness! We also host kids performances, including music (eg from Crystal Palace Youth Orchestra), singing, dance and gymnastics. The market also encourages children to get directly involved by running 'swap stalls' of their own, with items such as books, football stickers and loom bands, which have been a great success. The Red Nose stall raised £150 for Comic Relief! Kids love the responsibility of running a stall and being a part of the market. Free stalls are available for kids of 6 and up.
