Jump on board! Volunteer with Crystal Palace Transition Town
There are plenty of ways to get involved with our projects - here we highlight those that are actively recruiting volunteers.
Growing and gardening
Friday farming - Harvesters and Couriers
Our Patchwork Farm crops get harvested every Friday. Meet up with our team and pootle around our network of gardens in Crystal Palace to harvest the fruit, herbs and veg ready to be sold at the market on a Saturday. All skills levels are welcome, but currently we are in particular need of volunteers with some experience of gardening and confidence in harvesting. |
At busy times, we might also need some assistance with transporting produce from growing spaces that are farther away, so we'd like to develop a call list of volunteer couriers who are near Spa Hill or St. John's sites and could bring produce to the Triangle.
UPDATE - Although the community gardens are still active, the Patchwork Farm is on a break, due to lead volunteers moving away. If you'd like to find out more email joeduggan215@hotmail.com for more info. |
Planting, growing, watering, weeding, digging and fun at St John's
We have a great bunch of volunteers who come down every Sunday from midday until 2pm to help out at the food garden at St John's Church, Auckland Road. We are looking for new faces, from the experienced to the novice - any helping hands are much appreciated. For more details email lou_yates@hotmail.com or vist the St John's Page |
Get your hands dirty at our first Edible Garden
Our community garden in Westow Park needs volunteers to help nurture our crops and harvest them for the Patchwork Farm stall. We have a few regulars who come down every Saturday from 10am and would like a few more to get stuck in and help maintain our award-winning community garden. For more details email hayley.bainesbuffery@gmail.com or visit the Edible Garden page. |
Enterprise
Patchwork Farm stall - help to sell our fruit and veg at the stall
The Patchwork Farm stall is at the Crystal Palace Food Market every Saturday selling all the produce we collect from our network of growing spaces. If you have any skills in retail or are just an enthusiastic people-person, helping out on the stall for an 2 or 3 hours could be for you. We generally chat about our projects, gardening, food preparation, other community activities. It's a lot of fun, and there's no need to feel you have to commit every week. For more details email patchworkfarm@crystalpalacetransition.org.uk or visit the Patchwork Farm page. |
Palace Power - organised types required for renewable energy project
Palace Power have begun a new round of meetings to move forward on the idea of placing community owned solar panels on large buildings in the area. If you are be interested in committing some time on a weekly or fortnightly basis to making this happen in Crystal Palace, contact joeduggan215@hotmail.com for more information about the project. |
