Palace Power - let's generate renewable energy for community benefit!
We are currently planning a large solar panel installation on a public building in Crystal Palace and setting up an energy co-operative to enable local people to invest in the project. With energy prices continuing to rise, having local, affordable, renewable energy on tap makes sense.
How it works: members of the community join the co-operative and club together to buy panels for a building, for instance a school. The school pays a low rate for the electricity it uses from the panels, and this money, plus the government's Feed in Tariff which tops up the funds, pays back the co-op members for their investment plus a financial return on top. Result: people get to invest in green energy generation on their own doorstep, the school gets cheap electricity, pupils learn about renewable energy first hand - and it all helps save the planet! Can you help us?

Palace Power - organised types required
Palace Power have begun a new round of meetings to move forward on the idea of placing community-owned solar panels on large buildings in the area. If you are interested in committing some time on a weekly or fortnightly basis to making this happen in Crystal Palace, contact joeduggan215@hotmail.com for more information about the project.
