Angus carted his children up to London in one of our cargo bikes!
While Alex delivered a potential compost bin to one of our growing sites!
TRANSPORT STUFF THE ZERO-CARBON WAY WITH OUR AMAZING CARGO BIKES! We have two Gazelle Cabby Cargo Bikes which can carry up to 75kg of cargo or two children up to age seven. We've used them instead of cars to: haul in weekly shops, pick up a Christmas tree, take big loads to the recycling centre (including the tree!), ferry kids to parties in style, transport tools and plants to our community gardens, and much more...
THEY'RE FUN TO USE! You can get exactly where you want, even if it's the other side of an expanse of grass. You never have to worry about parking. They lock, so all you need is something to lash it to. They're a pleasure to ride - they have a lovely slow lilting feel. Where the hills are too steep, you can hop off and use the bike as a wheel barrow They're extremely good exercise! Kids love being carted around in them. They are up front with the best view - and you can see what they're up to! They can turn round to face you so you can talk easily. And it’s much quicker to get them strapped into a cargo bike than into a car! Cars give you a wider birth than a normal bicycle. Many pass you slowly because they're interested to know what you are carrying! Passers-by are curious and friendly and you can interact with them in a way you can't when you're in a car.
BECOME A CARGO BIKER! If you'd like to reduce your carbon footprint, shed a few pounds or simply join in the fun, email us at contact@cptt-transport.org.uk. We'll arrange to give you a familiarisation session with the bikes and let you try them out. Once you're competent, you can borrow them to run your own errands.
This is a free service, but if you can afford a small donation towards our running costs or lend a hand (well, two feet) to ferry stuff for our projects - that would be gratefully accepted!
PLEASE NOTE: You will be asked to provide ID and sign a statement that you use the bikes at your own risk. We take all the safety measures we can, but cannot take liability for any damage or injury, however that may be caused, while using them.
