We're riding en masse to London to join the Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle, an eight mile traffic-free (closed road) loop taking in some of London's most famous sights, with tons of fun and entertainment along the way. We'll be riding to the start point at Southwark Bridge along some of South London's quieter streets.
You can cover as much or as little distance as you like:
* 7 mile open-road ride. Crystal Palace to Southwark Bridge, return by train from London Bridge BR. If you're thinking about cycle commuting to the City or Holborn but don't know the quietest route, this is a great way to discover it.
* 8 mile closed-road ride. Train to London Bridge or Victoria, do the closed-road loop, then return on the train. Recommended for children aged 7 or under.
* 15 mile open/closed. Crystal Palace to Southwark Bridge, a lap of the closed-road loop, and home on the train. For those who don't fancy tackling the hills of Crystal Palace after 20+ miles!
* 22 mile open/closed. Crystal Palace to Southwark Bridge, a lap of the closed-road loop (or two if you're keen) then ride home (with a stop at a cafe in Dulwich).
Competent riders aged 8+ with an accompanying adult are welcome on all sections of the ride. Younger riders at parents' discretion, but as there are some short sections of main road we recommend that under 8s are transported by child carrier or cargo bike.
Bring: Something to eat and drink (food will be available on the FreeCycle route, but we'll take a break at Burgess Park on the way in), at least one spare inner-tube, and suitable clothes for the weather on the day.
Participation is free - or, to receive a free welcome pack register at http://www.prudentialridelondon.co.uk/The_Events/Prudential_RideLondon_FreeCycle.htm
